How do I register on the YETI website

Follow these simple steps to register on the YETI website:

1) Click on “new user registration” on the right side of the homepage and fill in the  registration form that appears.

2) After filling in the form you will receive a password at the e-mail address you have provided. Use your e-mail id as your username and this password  to login to the YETI website.

3) If you wish to change your password you can do so by clicking on “My profile page” on the the top left corner of the website. You can also update your profile here, whenever you wish to do so.  IMPORTANT – Please register on the website only if you wish to attend or participate in the conference.  Registration is not required to view any of the pages on the website.

4) If you are already a registered user from a previous YETI event, you DO NOT have to register again.

How do I submit an application to present my work at YETI?

1) Register yourself at the YETI website (see “How do I register on the YETI website?” above)

2) Login to your YETI account

3) Fill in your application online by clicking on “ONLINE APPLICATION” under the “Participate” tab

4) Choose your mode and content of presentation in the “How do you want to participate” and “What are you presenting” fields respectively

5) Carefully go through the sections titled “GUIDELINES FOR ABSTRACTS” and “GUIDELINES FOR PRESENTERS” before filling up the rest of the application form

IMPORTANT: You can only SAVE your application online by clicking on the ‘SAVE APPLICATION’ button at the end of the application form. A saved application can be edited anytime before the last date of submission. However, once you SUBMIT the application form by clicking on the ‘SUBMIT APPLICATION’ button, you CANNOT make any more changes. We also advise you to save your abstract in a word document on your computer in case you need to submit it again for some reason.

6) While we strongly encourage you to use our online application form, if this is not possible for some reason, you can also download a copy of the application form by clicking on “DOWNLOAD APPLICATION PACKAGE” under the “Participate” tab. The filled application form can be sent to meet.yeti@gmail.com

Do I need to fill in the entire application form at one go?

NO. You can save your application form to come back and fill in later. However, remember that the keywords and categories fields do not get saved, so you have to enter these every time you access your application form. To access your saved application form, login and click on “ONLINE APPLICATION” under the “Participate” tab.

If I want to just attend YETI, do I still have to register on the website?

YES. Register on the YETI website (see “How do I register on the YETI website?” above), go to the ‘ONLINE APPLICATION” under the “Participate” tab and choose ‘Attendance’ as your mode of participation under “How do you want to participate”. Click “SUBMIT APPLICATION” below.

NOTE:  Only registered participants will be provided lunch, tea  and dinner during the conference.

Do I have to pay a registration fee?

YES. Participants who have registered to either just attend the event or present their work will have to pay the registration fee at the venue on the first day of the conference, towards lunch, tea and dinner.  People attending the event without registering need not pay, but will have to make their own arrangements for lunch, tea and dinner.

Will travel costs be reimbursed?

NO. YETI is a really low-budget event organized by student volunteers in their spare time. Therefore we will not be able to reimburse long-distance or local travel of participants.

Will accommodation be provided to outstation participants presenting their work?

YES. Accommodation will be provided free of cost during the conference for outstation candidates who are presenting their work at the conference.

Will accommodation be provided to outstation participants who are just attending the conference?

NO. Outstation candidates who are just attending the conference will have to make their own arrangements for accommodation. Here is a list of  hotels near IISc

If I want to just attend the conference, what should I do after registering?

After registering, wait for the conference organizers to get in touch with you over e-mail for further instructions. You can go ahead and make your travel and accommodation arrangements for the conference in the meanwhile.

What should I do after submitting an application form?

1) Wait for YETI conference organizers to get in touch with you over e-mail

2) If you want to attend the conference anyway, irrespective of whether or not your abstract is selected for the mode of presentation you have opted for see next three questions), go ahead and make your travel and accommodation arrangements for the conference

3) If you are particular about your mode of presentation, please wait to hear from the organizers before making travel and accommodation arrangements (see next three questions).

Will all submitted applications for presentations be accepted?

IF your work fits within the broad ambit of ecology, your application will be accepted (but see next question). If you are not sure about this, please write to us at meet.yeti@gmail.com.

What kind of work can I present at YETI?

You can present any piece of research in the field of ecology which you have carried out. This could include research which you propose to do, work-in-progress or work which has been completed. We will not accept descriptive reviews and opinions for presentation at YETI.

Will I definitely get the mode of presentation I opted for?

We will try our best to let you use the mode of presentation you opted for, but if this is not possible due to space and time constraints, we might suggest a different mode of presentation.

What is a project page?

All registered users who have applied to participate in YETI have the opportunity to display their projects on the website. This could include a title, short description of your project, keywords, the discipline of ecology to which your work belongs and photographs related to your work. The main feature of this page will be the comments/discussion section where anyone who visits the site will be free to ask questions and make suggestions related to your work. This feature will allow exchange of information and ideas beyond the conference and make the YETI website an interactive platform for student networking and dialogue.

How do I edit my project page?

1) Login to the YETI website

2) Click on “My Project Page” at the top left corner

3) Make changes!
